2021 No-Gi Pans Results and Highlights: Elisabeth Clay Wins Double Gold with Six Submissions

The dust has settled from the 2021 IBJJF no-gi Pans, and Elisabeth Clay is walking away with arguably the best overall performance of the weekend. Clay secured six submissions in as many matches on her way to winning double gold.

Per usual, Clay did most of her best work attacking the legs; five of her six submissions were leg locks. In the absolute division, she submitted both Bridget Mceliece and Vanessa Griffin by heel hook. In the absolute semifinals, Clay picked up yet another heel hook victory when she submitted former no-gi Pans double champion Maria Malyjasiak. And in the finals, Clay submitted no-gi world champion Kendall Reusing by violin armbar.

Watch video highlights of some of Clay’s submissions below.

Elisabeth Clay was awarded her black belt after a successful run in the colored belts that saw her win double gold at the no-gi world championships as a purple and brown belt. She is one of jiu-jitsu’s most submission-oriented grapplers, already with notable submission wins over Luiza Monteiro and Maggie Grindatti, in addition to the ones she earned this weekend.
