In the men’s light-feather division, last year’s no-gi European, Pans, and Worlds champion Junny Ocasio continued his run of dominance to claim his second European title. The Unity Jiu-Jitsu representative looked in top form as he aims to repeat another banner year this no-gi season – and continue to assert himself as one of the sport’s top pound-for-pound competitors.

Brown belt no-gi world champion Yigit Hanay lived up to the hype in his European no-gi black belt debut, defeating British standout Jed Hue on his way to taking home gold in the talent-laden lightweight division. After a pair of strong showings at the ADCC European Trials, Hanay seems to be well on his way to becoming a mainstay of the elite no-gi scene.

In other notable men’s action, 2022 no-gi world champion Sebastian Rodriguez joined Junny Ocasio as Unity’s second European champion, defeating ADCC veteran Jeremy Skinner in the final of the medium-heavy division. Also, decorated American veteran Rafael Lovato Jr. picked up the first European no-gi title of his lengthy career with dominant performances in the super-heavy division.

Meanwhile, on the women’s side, ADCC veterans Julia Maele, Brianna Ste-Marie, and Aurelie Le Vern each earned gold in the lightweight, middle, and medium-heavy divisions, respectively.

Also, Spanish-British standout Anabel Lopez Beard, still less than six months into her black belt career, made waves in the heavyweight division where she defeated ADCC veteran Nia Blackman to claim gold. Given her long list of accomplishments at the colored belts, fans should keep an eye on Lopez moving forward, as she stands to see a breakout year this no-gi season.
