AJ Agazarm is one of the most polarizing athletes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and tonight he made his transition over to professional MMA. Agazarm was paired with fellow pro MMA debutant Jesse Roberts.
From the opening bell AJ struggled on the feet, but was able to take Roberts’ back to finish the round. Despite AJ’s late rally, Roberts did the majority of damage in the first round.

It was more of the same for Agazarm in the second round. While AJ looked out of his element on the feet, he managed to chain together a takedown and took Roberts’ back. The round ended with AJ close on a rear naked choke.
By the third round, both Agazarm and Roberts were visibly tired. The pace slowed and both fighters looked labored on the feet. Roberts landed the heavier of the strikes, but all-in-all the disappointing round capped off a disappointing debut for Agazarm.
In the end the judges scored it in favour of Jesse Roberts by split decision.
