Andrew Wiltse to Face Gabriel Almeida at Next Who’s Number One

One of the fastest-rising black belt competitors in jiu-jitsu will put his undefeated Who’s Number One (WNO) record on the line against an established top grappler. On June 18, Pedigo Submission Fighting’s Andrew Wiltse will take on Checkmat representative Gabriel Almeida. FloGrappling announced the match.

A black belt under Heath Pedigo and representing the Daisy Fresh crew, Andrew Wiltse was an IBJJF no-gi world champion at every colored before he was promoted in late 2019. As a black belt, he is already a no-gi Pans champion. Wiltse is undefeated in WNO competition with wins over PJ Barch and, most recently, a submission of David Garmo.

Gabriel Almeida is one of Checkmat’s top competitors. As a black belt, he was a 2020 IBJJF American Nationals double gold medalist, among a number of other IBJJF podium appearances. One of the most defensively sound competitors on the circuit, he is currently on a three-match losing skid, most recently dropping a competitive decision to Oliver Taza at WNO.

How to watch: WNO takes place on Friday, June 18 and will air live on FloGrappling (subscription required).
