BJJ Stars 13 results: Mica Galvao, Diogo Reis cruise to victories
Mica Galvao and Diogo Reis both picked up points victories on August 3, 2024, at BJJ Stars 13.
On Saturday, August 3, Brazil’s premier professional grappling organization returned to action with a card headlined by a pair of Team Melqui Galvao standouts.
In the main event of BJJ Stars 13, ADCC silver medalist Mica Galvao scored a one-sided points win over 2015 ADCC champion Davi Ramos. Galvao looked sharp and methodical throughout the match, scoring a clean takedown in the submission-only portion of the match before moving to mount during the points period to secure a 4-point lead.
Ramos would defend submissions and eventually escape mount to return to his feet, but Galvao was able to maintain his lead for the remainder of the 10-minute match.
Galvao is now less than two weeks out from his sophomore appearance at the ADCC World Championships, where he will be a favorite to take home gold in the 77kg division. He has looked nothing short of dominant in 2024, boasting an undefeated record across both gi and no-gi competition that’s seen him win an IBJJF grand slam and successfully defend his Who’s Number One (WNO) welterweight title.
The co-main event saw reigning ADCC world champion Diogo “Baby Shark” Reis cruise to 2-0 points win over no-gi Brasileiros champion Felipe Machado. Reis earned a single takedown to take the lead during the points period of the match and would ride out that lead on his way to a relatively uneventful victory.
Like his teammate Galvao, “Baby Shark” is now in his final preparations for his return to the ADCC World Championships where he will defend his 66kg title. After suffering a knee injury in late 2023, Reis has competed just one other time in 2024 – a dominant submission victory over Shay Montague at WNO.
