BJJ Stars 8 features gi grand prix, ADCC-rules superfights

The Brazilian grappling BJJ Stars has announced a stacked event for April 30. BJJ Stars 8 will feature an eight-man gi grand prix, as well as a handful of ADCC-rules superfights that involve a number of the best competitors on the planet.

Although this will be an IBJJF-style, points-based grand prix, it nonetheless involves several competitors that have already qualified for the 2022 ADCC world championships. Those competitors include South American Trials winners Mica Galvao, Roberto Jimenez, and Isaque Bahiense, and 2019 ADCC bronze medalist Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa. Also in action will be seven-time IBJJF world champion and BJJ Stars 4 grand prix winner Leandro Lo.

Additionally, the card will showcase several ADCC-rules no-gi matches. View the currently-scheduled matches below.

2017 ADCC absolute champion Felipe Pena will square off with recent South American Trials winner Henrique Ceconi in a highly-anticipated match. The only man to hold two wins over Gordon Ryan, Pena isn’t taking any easy matches for his ADCC prep, as Ceconi looked dominant at the second South American Trials where he submitted all but one of his opponents.

Also, top-ranked IBJJF gi competitor Fellipe Andrew will face ADCC South American Trials winner Gutemberg Pereira. And in what is an early favorite for match of the night, all-action Trials winner Fabricio Andrey will take on no-gi world champion Alex Sodre.

How to watch: BJJ Stars 8 takes place on Saturday, April 30 and will air live on FloGrappling (subscription required).
