BJJ Stars Sets Up Ffion Davies V Bianca Basilio Rematch

BJJ Stars has just revealed that they’ve been able to set up one of the best rematches available in women’s BJJ for their next event on April 25th, Ffion Davies v Bianca Basilio. The pair’s last encounter happened just last year in the final of the ADCC World Championships 2019. Davies had made a huge impact earlier that day by beating one of the division’s favorites in Bia Mesquita, getting the win via a horrific Armbar finish. She wasn’t able to overcome another of the world’s best female grapplers in the final however as she eventually lost to Bianca Basilio via an equally brutal Toehold. The news of the rematch being booked hit Instagram as both Ffion Davies and BJJ Stars revealed the booking against Bianca Basilio.

While Davies might have come up short in her first attempt at ADCC gold, a silver medal is still an incredible feat, especially as she became the first British person to reach the podium at ADCC and after a little under a year competing at black belt. This was the icing on the cake for a fantastic year for Davies as she also became the inaugural Polaris World Champion after a avenging a previous loss against Talita Alencar.

She’s already started this year by making even more history in the IBJJF European Championships. She not only won her weight class and the Absolute division, but she actually became the lightest person to ever win the Openweight class at the European Championships. Basilio on the other hand, struggled a little at the tournament as she managed to earn a Bronze medal at a different weight class to Davies.
