Breaking: Jordan Burroughs Will Wrestle Isaiah Martinez at Who’s Number One

The upcoming Who’s Number One (WNO) just got much more interesting. Jordan Burroughs — one of the best folkstyle and freestyle wrestlers of his generation — will face fellow elite wrestler Isaiah Martinez in a wrestling match of the next WNO on June 18. This will be the first ever wrestling match on a WNO card. FloGrappling announced the match-up.

Quite simply, Jordan Burroughs has been the face of American wrestling for the past ten years. After a successful collegiate career that saw him winning two national championships at the University of Nebraska, Burroughs went on to be a dominant force in the international scene. He was a 2012 Olympic gold medalist, a four-time world champion, and a four-time US Open champion, among other accomplishments. Earlier this year, Burroughs failed to make the Olympic team for the first time since he graduated from college, losing back-to-back matches to Kyle Dake.

While less known than Burroughs, Isaiah Martinez is, in his own right, an accomplished and elite wrestler. In college, Martinez was a two-time national champion for the University of Illinois. Since completing his collegiate career in 2018, Martinez has already been a two-time US Open champion, as well as a 2019 World Cup champion.

The rest of the WNO event will feature the typical 15 or 30-minute submission-only grappling matches.

How to watch: WNO takes place on Friday, June 18 and will air live on FloGrappling (subscription required).
