Cage Fury BJJ 14 results: Junny Ocasio, Elder Cruz score impressive wins

Check out results and highlights from Cage Fury BJJ 14, which took place on Friday, July 25, 2025, in Atlantic City.

The grappling promotion formerly known as Fury Grappling, now Cage Fury BJJ, returned to Atlantic City, New Jersey, on July 25 with a card featuring a number of top no-gi competitors.

In the main event, UFC standout Phil Hawes stepped up on short notice, replacing Pat Downey, to take on Luke Fernandez. Fernandez emerged victorious by way of anaconda choke finish to capture the inaugural Cage Fury BJJ cruiserweight title.

Before that, decorated veteran Junny Ocasio successfully defended his bantamweight crown with a sterling submission finish over Joey Diehl.

Ocasio was in the driver’s seat for the entirety of the match, quickly sitting to his guard before using the threat of leg locks to take top position and pass Diehl’s guard. Ocasio maintained dominant position for nearly one minute before Diehl scrambled back to a neutral position, but before long, Ocasio was again able to enter into a leg entanglement and take the top position.

Thist time around, though, Ocasio wasted no time in sitting back into a leg lock, first looking for an outside heel hook, then transitioning to a straight footlock to secure the tap with just over three minutes remaining in regulation.

With the victory, Ocasio retained his Cage Fury BJJ bantamweight title, avenged a 2023 submission loss to Diehl, and further solidified himself as a pound-for-pound powerhouse and arguably the planet’s top 135-pound grappler.

In other notable action, ADCC veteran and multiple-time IBJJF no-gi world champion Elder Cruz scored a hard-fought overtime victory over Steve Joachim. Cruz spent much of the regulation period working his top game, constantly looking to pass Joachim’s guard. In overtime, Cruz quickly attacked a front headlock, transitioned to the back, and put in two hooks to win by golden score.
