CJI 2: Day 2 results and video highlights

View complete results and video highlights from the second day of CJI 2, which took place on August 31, 2025.

The second installment of the Cragi Jones Invitational concluded on Sunday, and one team of elite grapplers walked away with a $1 million grand prize. Also, the final of the four-woman bracket went down, as teen phenoms Sarah Galvao and Helena Crevar locked horns for $100,000.

And in superfight action, tournament organizer Craig Jones took on late-notice replacement Chael Sonnen in what Jones has announced to be his retirement match.

Before the action got underway, Jones announced that any athlete scoring a submission during the team event would earn a $50,000 bonus.

Women’s Bracket Final

  • Helena Crevar def. Sarah Galvao via submission (Aoki lock)

Crevar worked aggressively from her guard from the opening bell, jumping out to a two-round lead thanks to her constant leg lock attacks. For her part, Galvao never stopped pressing the action and did find some success from her stack pass, but ultimately succumbed to an Aoki lock in the third frame.

Craig Jones def. Chael Sonnen via submission (buggy choke)

Jones appeared to put Sonnen to sleep twice with the same move before exiting the pit without a post-match interview.

Team Final: The B-Team vs. Team New Wave

With neither team scoring a submission, the judges’ scorecards were tallied — and the scores were even. As a tie-breaker, the winner of the final match was determined the winner of the team duel.
