Diego Sanchez Set for Combat Jiu Jitsu Worlds

The Nightmare is coming to combat jiu jitsu and will be putting it all on the line in pursuit of welterweight gold.

Diego Sanchez is no stranger to grappling events, he has competed against the greatest of all-time in Marcelo Garcia and trained extensively with Saulo Ribeiro. While Sanchez’s best days have been in the Octagon, he did make a name for himself on the grappling scene in his early career and is a Gracie Barra black belt.

While Diego Sanchez hasn’t compete in CJJ before, he will likely be one of the favourites because of his strong top game and decent ground and pound. It will be interesting to see how he does against more seasoned CJJ stylists like Richie “Boogeyman” Martinez.

It was announced last weekend that Diego Sanchez and Clay Guida will be inducted to the UFC Hall of Fame’s fight wing for their classic fight in 2009.

Combat Jiu Jitsu “The Welterweights” goes down on Sunday, August 18th live on UFC Fight Pass.
