Ffion Davies vs. Talita Alencar set for Polaris 11 Main Event

Polaris have just announced Ffion Davies will be defending her u55 kg belt against Talita Alencar in the main event of Polaris 11.

Ffion Davies is still in her first year as a black belt, having received it in November 2018, yet is tearing up the competition scene. She has just been invited to the u60 kg division of ADCC this year, having won the worlds Nogi in 2018, and become the first European to win the British national in May this year, less than 6 months after receiving her black belt.

Davies takes on Talita Alencar. Alencar won both the 2017 gi and nogi worlds, and came second in the IBJJF worlds this year.

Ffion will be seeking to defend her polaris belt but also to avenge her loss to Alencar on EBI 12 in July 2017, in one of the most exciting fights of the tournament. The nogi match was a true battle, with Ffion passing the Alencar’s guard twice, and securing the back and mount. However, Alencar managed to come away with the decision victory.

Ffion has a record of 3 wins on Polaris, having beaten Chelsea Leah, Elivra Karppinen, and Gezary Matuda, whilst Alencar makes her Polaris debut.
