FloGrappling’s ‘Hollywood’ Mike Sears Awarded Black Belt by Carlson Gracie, Jr. (Video)

One of jiu-jitsu’s big personalities, FloGrappling’s “Hollywood” Mike Sears has joined the black belt club. Recently, Sears made the trip up from Austin, TX, to Chicago, IL, to receive his black belt from Carlson Gracie, Jr., and fellow black belts Heath Pedigo tagged along to video the ceremony. Watch that video below.

In the video, we see interviews with Sears’ former Carlson Gracie teammates, his mother, and Sears himself. We see Sears explain how he got his start in jiu-jitsu, working with FloGrappling, initially as a photographer. As a jiu-jitsu practitioner, Sears started with Gracie as a white belt and continued with him through now, as a black belt.

Sears can now be seen working on a variety of projects for FloGrappling. From hosting press conferences, to writing articles, to commentating on matches, he is a constant presence in jiu-jitsu and will likely remain for years to come.

Huge congratulations Grappling Insider to Sears on this massive achievement.
