Fight 2 Win 143 Full Card And Preview
Fight 2 Win 143 takes place in Dallas, Texas on June 12th and will feature a huge card of elite grapplers after the promotion initially tested the waters with smaller fifteen-fight cards when they returned after Coronavirus caused a lengthy break in professional sports. The event will actually have nine black belt matches on the main card after fourteen coloured belt matches, this is much closer to the kind of Fight 2 Win cards we’re used to seeing before the Coronavirus break.
The main event is actually a match that was originally set to headline Pantheon Grappling 3 before that event was also postponed, but thankfully Fight 2 Win have managed to step in and save the fight. This match sees Victor Hugo make his return to Fight 2 Win after taking on Nick Rodriguez at Fight 2 Win 135 in a very close No Gi match that Hugo would end up coming away with the decision for. This was only the tip of the iceberg for Hugo’s success without the Gi, as he also came away with the 2019 IBJJF No Gi World Championship in the Absolute division after beating the likes of Aaron “Tex” Johnson, Vinicius “Trator” Ferreira and Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu.
His opponent in this match is no slouch though and while he may not be as well known as Victor Hugo, Fellipe Andrew has catapulted himself to the forefront of BJJ after winning the IBJJF European Championships 2020 in the Absolute Division. It wasn’t the gold medal itself that was so impressive, but more the man he had to beat to get it. In the final, Fellipe Andrew met Keenan Cornelius and although the match as close to begin with, Andrew eventually locked in a Triangle Choke to become only the second person to submit Cornelius at Black Belt, and the first to do so in the Gi, after Gordon Ryan managed to do so twice with an Outside Heel Hook and a Mounted Guillotine in No Gi.
While Hugo may be the more well-rounded grappler out of the two, Andrew has had a great deal more success in the Gi and that should prove to be the key difference in this matchup as Andrew takes the win in a technically exciting and painfully close match.
