Full Match: Tainan Dalpra Submits Jonnatas Gracie to Win $20K at the IBJJF Grand Prix

Art of Jiu-Jitsu stand-out Tainan Dalpra couldn’t have asked for a better year of competition in 2021. Named Grappling Insider’s best male gi grappler of the year, Dalpra won nearly every competition he entered.

One of Dalpra’s biggest (and most lucrative) accomplishments was winning the IBJJF four-man middleweight grand prix. In the first round, he soundly defeated would-be lightweight world champion Renato Canuto by a score of 9-2.

In the second and final round, Dalpra squared off with Atos representative Jonnatas Gracie. About three minutes into the match, Dalpra was able to pass the notoriously dangerous guard of Gracie, forcing Gracie to turtle. Dalpra pounced, taking Gracie’s back and sinking in a beautiful collar choke for the finish.

Watch the full match, which earned Dalpra $20,000, below.

In his first full year competing as a black belt, Dalpra lost just one time — a close decision loss to Mica Galvao at EUG 2.
