Full match video: Tammi Musumeci earns decision over Bianca Basilio at ONE Fight Night 8

Watch the full match between top BJJ black belts Tammi Musumeci and Bianca Basilio from ONE Fight Night 8.

On Friday, at ONE Fight Night 8: Superlek vs. Williams, elite jiu-jitsu competitors Tammi Musumeci and Bianca Basilio squared off in a submission-only match. After 10 minutes of back-and-forth action, Musumeci walked away the winner by unanimous decision.

Watch that match in its entirety below.

As many expected, Musumeci spent the majority of the match attacking from her guard, trying to hit her trademark berimbolo and crab ride back-takes. Basilio, meanwhile, looked to impose her will from the top position and implement her world-class passing game.

Ultimately, though, neither woman was able to mount very much sustained offense.

Showcasing a newer wrinkle to her game, Musumeci found her way into several deep leg lock attempts, but each time she did, Basilio quickly defended and retreated from the position. It was Musumeci’s continued aggression – and Basilio’s failure to counter-attack – that likely earned the American the decision.

A five-time IBJJF black belt world champion, Musumeci is now 1-0 in ONE Championship. The promotion is still expanding its submission grappling divisions, and there are currently no female champions in the sport in ONE. But with this strong showing against Basilio, Musumeci could soon find herself challenging for an inaugural ONE submission grappling world title, where she’ll have the opportunity to join her brother Mikey Musumeci as a ONE world champion.

Basilio is now 1-1 in ONE Championship. Despite the loss, the 2019 ADCC world champion’s stock remains high and she should still be widely regarded as one of the sport’s top pound-for-pound grapplers.
