Full Match: Watch Amanda Leve’s Massive Upset Win Over Gabi Garcia

At the Who’s Number One (WNO) Championships, Amanda Leve scored one of the biggest upsets in jiu-jitsu history when she defeated Gabi Garcia by convincing decision in the first round of the women’s heavyweight tournament. The match was shocking not only because of the outcome, but also because of Leve’s domination throughout the 15-minute contest, with Leve taking Garcia’s back multiple times.

Although she was relatively unheralded coming into the WNO Championships, Amanda Leve is an accomplished competitor. She was a 2019 ADCC trials winner and a Grapplers Quest champion, with wins over Rafaela Gueddes, Maggie Grindatti, and Elisabeth Clay. Leve is also 1-0 as a professional MMA fighter; she recently made her pro debut with the Professional Fighters League. After defeating Garcia, Leve would lose her next two matches to Rafaela Guedes and Erin Harpe, respectively.

Gabi Garcia is the most accomplished female competitor in the history of jiu-jitsu. She is four-time ADCC champion and a six-time IBJJF world champion. Garcia came into the WNO championships following a loss to Nathiely De Jesus. However, she had not lost to anyone other than De Jesus since 2015.
