Khabib Nurmagomedov Submits Dustin Poirier at UFC 242
The king is back. After a long lay-off, combat sambo world champion Khabib Nurmagomedov put on a clinic to defend his belt against Dustin Poirier. While Poirier is a BJJ black belt and a good grappler in his own right, the Louisiana native was unable to withstand Khabib’s crushing game.
Nurmagomedov landed an early takedown in the first and took Poirier’s back. Khabib went for a face crank, but Poirier stayed tough and fought valiantly. Khabib scored a few good strikes but then the round ended.
The second round started better for Poirier who landed some good strikes and put Khabib on the back foot, but eventually Khabib initiated the clinch and scored a takedown. Once Khabib got the takedown he was glued to Poirier and dominated the rest of the round.
In the third, Poirier threatened with a guillotine, but Khabib survived, took his back and tapped him out. Nurmagomedov goes to 28-0 with a beautiful rear naked choke.
