Mikey Musumeci taps out Osamah Almarwai, wants Demetrious Johnson next

Mikey Musumeci submitted Osamah Almarwai at ONE Fight Night 10, then asked for a match with Demetrious Johnson.

On Friday at ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III, reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci successfully defended his title for the second time, submitting no-gi world champion Osamah Almarwai in just over eight minutes.

Musumeci was in the driver’s seat for essentially the entire match, hunting leg locks and forcing Almarwai on the defensive through the opening minutes before moving to upper-body attacks and the back-take with about three minutes remaining in the 10-minute affair.

Once he achieved back control, the New Jersey native wasted little time in sinking in the match-ending rear-naked choke.

For his efforts, ONE awarded Musumeci a $50,000 performance bonus – the second of his run in the organization.

Mikey Musumeci wants Demetrious Johnson next

After the match, Musumeci said he’d next like to face legendary flyweight MMA fighter Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson

Johnson also competed at the event, successfully defending his ONE flyweight MMA world title against rival Adriano Moraes in the main event.

The pair have been in talks about a potential submission grappling match before, and Johnson has indicated he’d be willing to tango with Musumeci.
