No Gi Worlds 2019 Results: Aaron “Tex” Johnson v Victor Hugo

The opening round of No Gi Worlds 2019 has given us a shock exit for one seasoned grappler. Aaron “Tex” Johnson has gone out in the first round against Victor Hugo after the debutant pulled off a slick submission finish. Around the one minute mark the fighters were reset when Hugo pulled guard and quickly sank in a triangle choke. While Tex stacked, Hugo reached underneath him to pull the leg and put Tex on his back. At that point it was mere seconds before Hugo switched to an armbar and got the tap.

Victor Hugo moves on to the next round of the Openweight division in Anaheim, California and meets Vinicius Trator Gazola shortly. Aaron Johnson will have to wait until he fights at Super-Heavyweight for another shot at gold here.
