No Gi Worlds 2019 Results: Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu v Jackson Souza

Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu has been in a bit of a competitive slump lately. After a loss to Nicky Rodriguez this year and a bit of an unsportsmanlike reaction, some have wondered if his best years are behind him heading into No Gi Worlds 2019.

However, he has been doing well this year at Nogi Worlds. Today he scored a win Fernando Camoles Ribas before a thrilling victory over Jackson Souza, allowing him to progress to the semifinals.

The win came by submission in the dying seconds. Cyborg Abreu caught a front headlock and snapped Souza down. Cyborg took the chinstrap grip and started working on a front choke until souza turned to his back and he modified the choke to finish it with one hand.

Roberto Abreu will face Devhonte Johnson from Unity Jiu-Jitsu in the Semifinals while Victor Hugo takes on Marcelo Gomide on the other side of the bracket.
