Sarah Galvao completes $100K 4-woman bracket at CJI 2
Teenage phenom Sarah Galvao will compete in the four-woman $100,000 tournament at CJI 2.
The star-studded four-woman tournament set to go down at CJI 2 is now complete with the final addition of one of the BJJ world’s top young talents.
Sarah Galvao – the daughter of decorated former world champions Andre and Angelica Galvao – will step up for the biggest opportunity of her still-young career to compete against three of the sport’s top pound-for-pound athletes for the $100,000 grand prize. The six-figure payout is the largest in the history of women’s grappling.
Event organizer Craig Jones announced Galvao’s participation on a recent episode of “On Borrowed Time.”
Galvao joins reigning ADCC double-gold medalist Adele Fornarino, fellow teen prodigy Helena Crevar, and 65kg ADCC world champion Ana Carolina Vieira in the four-woman bracket. View the full list of athletes set to compete at CJI 2 here.
Still less than 20 years old and just a few weeks into her black belt career, Galvao has long been regarded as a future BJJ superstar. She enjoyed an impressive juvenile and colored belt career that saw her win IBJJF world titles at purple and brown belt, and was the #1-ranked IBJJF competitor at every colored belt level.
The young Atos representative recently made her foray into the world of professional no-gi grappling. In March, at the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 10, she lost a high-paced, competitive decision against black belt no-gi world champion Cassia Moura.
Given her relative inexperience at this level, Galvao will find herself an underdog against her more accomplished opponents. However, that doesn’t mean the teen should be counted out. In fact, she already holds a gi victory over Crevar. With her diverse skill set, elite pedigree, and lifetime of world-class training, Galvao certainly has what it takes to score an upset or two at CJI 2.
How to watch: CJI 2 takes place on August 30-31, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will air live and free on YouTube.
