Thiago Moises Makes Noise At UFC On ESPN+29

UFC On ESPN+29 went off without a hitch on May 13th as the promotion picked up speed to compensate for several events being cancelled due to Coronavirus, but Thiago Moises made such a big impact that he overshadowed the whole thing. The headline fight saw Glover Teixeira put an absolutely savage beating on Anthony Smith, making a statement in his hunt for a second shot at UFC gold. Smith was coming into this fight off an unofficial victory over a home invader, but couldn’t get the win in the octagon to match it as Teixeira finished him with strikes from the Mount position after four whole rounds of punishment.

Despite this stellar UFC main event, Thiago Moises might have surpassed it in terms of memorability. Moises has had mixed results in the UFC so far, going 2-2 with a 13-4 MMA record overall and was matched up with a veteran of the game in Michael Johnson. The first round saw Johnson light Moises up on the feet while stuffing takedown after takedown and it looked like Moises would be in for a long night. Then the second round came and if you blinked, you missed it. Moises rushed forward and took Johnson by surprise by pulling guard, immediately locked up a Heel Hook and got the tap. All in all, it took him 25 seconds to stage one of the best comebacks in UFC history and we’re certainly fired up for his next fight.
