Tommy Langaker to face Owen Livesey for Polaris light heavyweight title
Tommy Langaker will square off with Owen Livesey for the vacant Polaris light heavyweight title on September 13, 2025.
Longtime 170-pound standout Tommy Langaker is set to move up multiple weight classes to challenge for the vacant Polaris light heavyweight crown.
On Saturday, September 13, Langaker will lock horns with judo specialist Owen Livesey at Polaris 33. The event takes place at Fairfield Halls in Croydon, England.
Renowned for his dynamic and aggressive guard game, Langaker has long been regarded as one of Europe’s top black belt competitors. After a strong career in the gi that saw him earn silver at the IBJJF Worlds, the Norwegian shifted his focus to no-gi competition in 2022, winning gold at the ADCC European Trials and earning a contract with ONE Championship.
Since then, Langaker has proved to be among the planet’s top pound-for-pound no-gi grapplers. In addition to another ADCC Trials gold medal, he’s claimed gold at the IBJJF No-Gi Worlds and Euros, competed at the inaugural CJI, and scored notable wins over Renato Canuto, Elijah Dorsey, and Oliver Taza.
For his part, Livesey boasts a lengthy judo career, but has spent the past few years competing on the elite no-gi grappling circuit. He is a multiple-time Polaris veteran, as well as an ADCC and CJI veteran.
In terms of style, Langaker and Livesey are diametrically opposed. While Langaker is an expert guard player with ever-evolving leg locks and a solid back-taking game, Livesey an explosive takedown artist and top control specialist with phenomenal submission defense.
The rest of the event will see a team-based clash between South American and Australian/Asian squads.
