UFC FPI 10: Rodriguez vs. Hugo full card lineup and preview

Check out the full card lineup and preview for UFC FPI 10, which will take place on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

This Thursday, March 6, the UFC Fight Pass Invitational (UFC FPI) will return to the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, for what looks to be the best card in the promotion’s history.

UFC FPI 10 is headlined by a clash between two of the planet’s top heavyweight submission grapplers and is otherwise loaded with elite talent from around the world.

Rodriguez vs. Hugo

In the main event, inaugural CJI champion Nick Rodriguez hopes to extend his UFC FPI winning streak and score his first victory over longtime rival Victor Hugo.

As a two-time ADCC silver medalist, Rodriguez came into 2024 firmly established among the best heavyweight competitors in the world, but after winning the inaugural CJI with a 100 percent submission rate, he’s made his claim for the top spot. He’s shined at the UFC FPI, winning his past seven matches at the Apex, most recently submitting standout wrestler Michael Pixley.

Hugo, though, has proven to be Rodriguez’s kryptonite. The Brazilian is an incredibly accomplished grappler in his own right, boasting multiple IBJJF gi world titles in addition to his 2019 IBJJF no-gi world title in the absolute division. Notably, Hugo owns a trio of hard-fought wins over Rodriguez.

The bout represents an intriguing stylistic clash. In one corner, Rodriguez is arguably the division’s best overall takedown artist and an ultra-skilled top player who specializes in the body-lock pass and back-takes. Hugo, meanwhile, possesses the flexible and dynamic guard game of a lightweight, as well as the all-around submission skills to make him dangerous from any position.

Canuto vs. Taza

Before that, the always-entertaining Renato Canuto will take on New Wave’s Oliver Taza in a welterweight contest.

Renowned for his high-flying attacks and all-action approach to grappling, Canuto is one of the most experienced competitors on the elite circuit today. He is 2-0 in UFC FPI competition with a highlight-reel submission win over PJ Barch and a thrilling points victory over Jason Nolf.

For his part, Taza is also an extremely experienced competitor with loads of high-level experience under his belt. In contrast to Canuto’s high-octane approach, Taza is more of a technician, often leaning on his dangerous leg-lock game to turn the tides of any match at a moment’s notice.

Canuto and Taza have met once before in competition. The pair first collided in the first round of the 2019 ADCC World Championships, with Canuto walking away with a close, 2-point victory.

Clay vs. Ste-Marie

The card will also see a matchup between two of grappling’s top pound-for-pound standouts, as reigning IBJJF no-gi world champions Elisabeth Clay and Brianna Ste-Marie will lock horns in a trilogy match.

Clay is a multiple-time no-gi world champion, renowned for her seemingly impassible guard and top-tier leg lock game. In late 2024, she made a quick return following the birth of her first child to win gold at the IBJJF no-gi Pans and Worlds, all while racking up a near-perfect submission rate. Her lone defeat during that stretch came against Ste-Marie in the quarterfinals of the absolute division at No-Gi Worlds.

Canada’s Ste-Marie has enjoyed an incredible run of success in both gi and no-gi competition since her fourth-place finish at the 2024 ADCC World Championships. In addition to winning gold at the No-Gi Euros and the IBJJF Crown, she won her second no-gi world title.

Clay and Ste-Marie share plenty of history. They first met in 2023 at Who’s Number One (WNO), when Clay employed her ultra-aggressive guard and rarely seen top game to pick up an entertaining decision. When they met again in 2024 at the IBJJF No-Gi Worlds, Ste-Marie evened the score with an impressive rear-naked choke victory.

If history is any indication, fans can expect a high-paced, back-and-forth match at UFC FPI 10. Both women are true submission hunters, with Clay preferring to attack the legs from her vaunted open guard, while Ste-Marie is a creative half-guard player and a dangerous front-headlock artist.

The rest of the card at UFC FPI 10

There’s no shortage of intriguing matchups throughout the rest of the event.

The always-entertaining Ronaldo Junior, fresh off a decision win over ADCC silver medalist Jay Rodriguez at WNO, will face reigning IBJJF no-gi world champion and ADCC bronze medal winner Felipe Costa in a middleweight bout that promises fireworks.

Before that, the all-action Daniel Sathler will take on his former Atos teammate in Andy Murasaki. Sathler is quickly making a name for himself as one of grappling’s most explosive and entertaining athletes, but Murasaki is a master technician with the skills to stifle his opponent’s non-stop movement.

Finally, Sarah Galvao and Cassia Moura will clash in a match between two of grappling’s most talented young stars. The daughter to BJJ legend Andre Galvao, Sarah has been nothing but dominant throughout her juvenile career and is now looking to take the elite no-gi scene by storm. Moura, meanwhile, is one of the fastest-rising black belts the sport has ever seen, and after winning gold at the 2024 IBJJF No-Gi Worlds, she has erased any doubt that she belongs among the best.
