Video: Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida secures first-round TKO at ONE 158
Legendary Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida continued his winning ways in MMA as he defeated Simon Carson by first-round TKO at ONE 158.
After exactly six months away from the cage, Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida picked up his third professional MMA win. On Friday at ONE 158, the grappling specialist dominated late-notice replacement Simon Carson. Almeida is now 3-0 and looking just like the blue-chip prospect he was thought to be.

Almeida wasted little time bringing the fight to the mat, hitting a clean double-leg takedown in under a minute. From there, Almeida patiently controlled Carson before moving to mount and unloading a barrage of ground strikes that Carson was unable to defend.
“He was strong and I didn’t want to give him any opportunity to stand,” Almeida said in his post-fight interview. “I was taking my time, I was confident, so I was letting him waste all his energy.”
“It’s been really difficult time for me to get an opponent, so much respect for sc for taking the fight… Now I don’t think too much about opponents because they keep changing. So I’m gonna go home, get better, keep training, and show up. I don’t care who I’m going against, I’m gonna be prepared, I’m gonna give my best, and that’s it.”
All three of Almeida’s professional MMA wins have come inside the ONE Championship circle. After starting his career with two straight submission wins, this was Almeida’s first TKO victory.
