View notable results and highlights from the weekend in the world of submission grappling and BJJ.
This past weekend saw no shortage of high-level submission grappling and BJJ competition.
From ADXC 6 in Abu Dhabi to the IBJJF Pan Pacific Championships in Australia, to the Enigma Invitational in Texas, these are the weekend’s notable results and highlights.
ADXC 6
On Friday, Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship (ADXC) returned to action for ADXC 6. The card featured professional grapplers as well as MMA standouts competing in a mixture of gi and no-gi matches.
The card’s no-gi main event saw former UFC flyweight and current Rizin star Rogerio Bontorin secure a split-decision victory over undefeated MMA phenom Muhammad Mokaev.
In gi action, 2023 IBJJF world champion Jansen Gomes earned a unanimous decision win over perennial tough-out Uanderson Ferreira; decorated veteran Isaque Bahiense took home a decision over European champion Bruno Lima; and IBJJF Worlds silver medalist Pedro Machado scored a decision win over multiple-time no-gi world champion Jackson Sousa.

IBJJF Pan Pacific
The IBJJF Pan Pacific gi and no-gi championships attracted a number of elite competitors.
Young Art of Jiu-Jitsu prodigy Cole Abate earned gold in the lightweight division in both gi and no-gi action. The 19-year-old has been competing frequently on the IBJJF circuit as he prepares for the upcoming 2024 No-Gi Pans and the rest of the IBJJF no-gi season.

And on the gi side, IBJJF gi and no-gi world champion Thalison Soares rebounded from a stunning early exit from the 2024 IBJJF Worlds with a gold medal performance. As the 2024 IBJJF European, Pans, and Brasileiros champion, Soares has made his case for the best light-featherweight gi grappler in the world today.
Also, 2024 ADCC double-gold medal winner Adele Fornarino extended her run of dominance, picking up gold in both the featherweight and absolute divisions with a 100 percent submission rate. Undefeated in 2024 with victories over the likes of Anna Rodrigues, Brianna Ste-Marie, and Rafaela Guedes – and now finding success in the gi – Fornarino is on her way to establishing herself as the top female grappler of 2024.
