Ffion Davies vs. Morgan Black booked for ADXC 4

Ffion Davies will square off with Morgan Black in a no-gi bantamweight match in the co-main event of ADXC 4 in Paris.

The top pound-for-pound competitor in BJJ is set to return to action on May 18.

That night, at Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship (ADXC) 4 in Paris, France, Ffion Davies will square off with Morgan Black in a no-gi bantamweight tilt.

As the reigning 60kg ADCC world champion, IBJJF gi and no-gi (both weight class and absolute) world champion, as well as a current Polaris and Who’s Number One (WNO) champion, Davies has firmly established herself at the top of the competitive scene.

The Wales native will come into this contest riding a winning streak that dates back to the 2023 IBJJF Pans. In her recent appearances, Davies has picked up impressive victories over the likes of ADCC silver medalist Brianna Ste-Marie, IBJJF no-gi world champion Gabi McComb, and ADCC veteran Nikki Lloyd-Griffiths.

Davies previously competed at ADXC 2 where she submitted top-10 UFC strawweight Luana Pinheiro.

Standing across from her will be 2024 ADCC West Coast Trials runner-up Morgan Black. While Black might be comparatively light on accomplishments compared to Davies, her run through the West Coast Trials – in addition to her gold medal run at the 2023 ADCC East Coast Trials – has cemented her status as an elite competitor.

She holds notable wins over Helena Crevar, Trinity Pun, and Nicole Matthew.

Stylistically, Black is a talented wrestler with excellent top control and guard passing. If Davies elects to battle for the takedown with Black, fans will be treated to an interesting clash between wrestling and judo.

For her part, Davies is an incredibly well-rounded grappler. While she tends to do her best work from the top position where she possesses arguably the sport’s most effective guard passing, she is also a skilled guard player and submission hunter from seemingly any position.

In addition to Davies vs. Black, ADXC has also announced a gi main event showdown between IBJJF European champion Espen Mathiesen and veteran black belt Leon Larman.
