Enyo 3: Full results & review

Enyo 3 took place on Saturday, August 12, at Southampton Central Hall, in England. This event was Enyo’s third edition and it held 23 submission-only matches; a mix of both gi and no-gi.

The night kicked off with the blue belts and kid’s matches; both of which were incredibly entertaining. With regards to highlights, there were quite a few; Enyo put on a show!

During the prelims we saw up-and-comer Chloe Roberts get the submission win after a tough back-and-forth battle with her opponent, securing the RNC with just eight seconds left to spare, showing an incredible amount of will and tenacity to get the finish.

Enyo veteran, and Enyo 2’s FOTN Dominika Krzeslak, took the match on short notice and came out victorious with a peculiar arm bar from the 50/50 position. Funnily enough, Krzeslak wasn’t the only person on Enyo 3 to finish with an arm bar from 50/50. On the main card, 18-year-old rising star Anabel Lopez Beard also submitted her opponent Bia Fernandes via armbar from the 50/50 position.

Sealing off the prelims was a match with Injana Goodman, a purple belt who recently went up against Gabi Schuck at Polaris and lost via decision, she secured herself the decision win via a dominant performance and proved that she is definitely one to watch on the European grappling scene.

The main card provided fans with some incredible matchups and the matches lived up to the expectations. Sula-Mae Loewenthal got the job done quickly with a guard jump straight into a beautifully executed Mir Lock.

Meanwhile, young prospect Nia Blackman had one of the best fights of the night, a true battle, with Caroline Kinnane. Blackman has proved herself time and time again; having trained since she was a child, she has won uncountable tournaments and as an adult has gone on to win double gold at the IBJJF Europeans and World Championships at blue belt, followed by double silver at IBJJF Worlds as purple, gold at Pan Ams at purple belt in both the gi and no-gi, and more. However, Kinnane proved herself to be able to stand with the best in the sport and took the young star to a decision.

The second-to-last match between Gabi Schuck and Joanna Dineva ended up getting heated at the end once Shuck was announced as the split decision winner. The two had a tenacious back-and-forth with submission attempts from both ends, but Schuck reigned the winner. However, if you don’t want the fight to go into the judge’s hands, you need to make sure you submit them. The decision is the decision.

Lastly, Nadine Tavares Da Silva went head-to-head with last-minute replacement Fiona Mortell for the U65kg champion belt. The two exerted a high-paced, high-action technical scrap with Da Silva taking the decision win; however, I doubt this will be the last time we see Mortell on Enyo – she will be back.
