2024 ADCC West Coast Trials: Names to watch in every women’s division

Check out our preview of the women’s divisions at the 2024 ADCC West Coast Trials, set for March 30-31 in Las Vegas.

The ADCC West Coast Trials is going down this weekend in Las Vegas, NV. Over 1,000 athletes will look to battle their way to the top of the podium and punch their ticket to the prestigious ADCC World Championships. This is one of the toughest tournaments in the world as each bracket is littered with elite talent.

Gold-medal winners from each division – five men and three women – will earn their spot at ADCC 2024.

Below we take a closer look at names to watch in each women’s division.

Women’s -55kg

Women’s -55kg is an absolutely stacked bracket from top to bottom. The winner of the East Coast trials, top black belt Alex Enriquez highlights this bracket. She defeated fellow standout Jasmine Rocha at the East Coast Trials before winning gold at the IBJJF no-gi Worlds last year. Rocha was also second at the West Coast Trials in 2022, losing to eventual ADCC silver medalist Brianna Ste-Marie in the final. Also highlighted in this bracket is multiple-time gi and no-gi world champion Tammi Musumeci, who is one of the division’s most decorated competitors.

Other top contenders include Atos representative Amanda Bruse, Jessica Crane, Trinity Pun, Medusa champion Sophia Cassella, and Alex Nguyen.

Every trials there seems to be a new breakout star on the scene. Dark horse contenders include Faye Cherrier, Maggy Meier, Lauren Sears, and long-time UFC veteran Angela Hill.

Women’s -65kg

While there are no returning ADCC veterans returning in this bracket the clear favorite is young New Wave phenom Helena Crevar. But if Crevar wants to live up to the hype and punch her ticket to her first ADCC World Championships, she’ll need to get past talented wrestler Mo Black, who defeated her in the final of the East Coast Trials. Other top contenders include Leilani Bernales, Aislinn O’Connell, and Nicole Mathew.

With a bracket returning no ADCC vets, the dark horse contenders here wouldn’t be as big of a surprise as some other brackets. They include Caitlin Huggins, Brittney Johnson, and Maka Vickers.

Women’s +65kg

The 2019 ADCC West Coast Trials winner Amanda Leve returns to highlight the women’s +65kg division and she will be a considerable favorite to take home gold. She also won the 2023 East Coast Trials on just days’ notice where she defeated Bridget McEliece, who is looking to make the jump to the top of the podium. Other top contenders include Elizabeth Mitrovic, veteran black belt Erin Harpe, and Khadijah Peek.

The dark horse contenders include Brittney Elkin, Hannah Harjo, Diana Rooney, and Hannah Sternblitz.
