The second and final ADCC North American Trials took place over the weekend, and eight more athletes punched their tickets to the 2024 ADCC World Championships.

With nearly 1,000 total competitors, the ADCC West Coast Trials went on March 30-31 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and delivered no shortage of action and world-class grappling.

The tournament featured a number of notable performances, including brothers Andrew and William Tackett scoring gold in the 77kg and 88kg divisions, respectively. Andrew Tackett – the younger of the two – shined in a semifinal thriller against Andy Varela and, in the final against ADCC veteran Oliver Taza, employed relentless pacing to largely dominate en route to points victory.

Meanwhile, William Tackett beat ADCC veterans Elder Cruz and Jay Rodriguez to earn his second trip to the ADCC World Championships.

The Tackett brothers weren’t the only siblings in action, as Standard Jiu-Jitsu’s Deandre Corbe beat his brother Gavin on his way to a dominant points win over former ADCC Trials winner Keith Krikorian in the final of the 66kg division.

Women’s 55kg and 65kg saw East Coast finalists avenge losses, as Jasmine Rocha earned a late submission win over no-gi world champion Alex Enriquez and New Wave phenom Helena Crevar put in a clinical showing against Mo Black. Rocha’s performance was particularly impressive, as she took out multiple-time IBJJF world champion and ADCC veteran Tammi Musumeci in the semifinals.

Before that, the women’s +65kg division final was shaping up to be a nailbiter, but a knee injury to Amanda Leve brought a premature end to her match with Elizabeth Mitrovic.

In the men’s 99kg division, Daisy Fresh product Michael Pixley used his top-tier takedowns and quality guard passing to take home gold in what amounts to a true breakout performance for the talented wrestler.

And at men’s +99kg, ADCC veteran Mike Perez, while undersized for the division, looked in great form, taking out the gigantic B-Team representative Mike Pezzuto in the division’s final.
