Fight 2 Win 141 marked the promotion’s third event after returning from an extended break due to Coronavirus and the fight card delivered in the best way possible. There was one children’s match followed by a couple of purple belt matches, a number of which were incredibly close decisions. After that, Teenage prodigy William Tackett pulled off one of the slickest submissions of the night so far over Troy Russell, winning the Fight 2 Win Brown Belt Middleweight No Gi title as a result.

The Co-main event then saw Edwin Najmi put a great display as he took on ex-UFC and WEC World Champion Ben Henderson. Najmi won the fight by Flying Triangle early on, expertly showing the difference between MMA fighters who compete in grappling and elite professional grapplers. In the final fight of the night, Rafael Lovato Jr. made his long awaited return to Gi competition after his recent brain condition diagnosis, by facing Arnaldo Maidana de Oliveira.

Despite only competing in BJJ five times since his run at ADCC 2017, it didn’t look like Lovato had missed a step at all. He’s been focusing on his MMA career under the Bellator banner since then and his dedication to developing his striking paid off massively as he beat Gegard Mousasi to become Bellator Middleweight Champion with a 10-0 professional record before his diagnosis forced him into an earlier retirement than he had planned. If this match was anything to go by, we should be seeing a lot more of Lovato on the competitive scene and he looks capable of another solid run at ADCC 2021.
