Nicky Ryan hints at potential match against ADCC champion Davi Ramos

Nicky Ryan revealed that he’s targeting a June comeback match against ADCC champion Davi Ramos.

Nicky Ryan is eyeing a return to competition this summer in what would be the 21-year-old black belt’s first match since the 2022 ADCC World Championships.

Ryan appeared on a recent episode of the Simple Man Podcast and revealed that he is in talks with FloGrappling to compete on a June Who’s Number One (WNO) card. At the moment, his primary potential opponent is 2015 ADCC champion Davi Ramos.

“Right now I’m trying to book a match for June on WNO,” Ryan said. “Talking about getting Davi Ramos for that one.”

Ryan also revealed he asked for a match against ADCC veteran Magid Hage or EBI champion Alan Sanchez.

“I asked for Magid [Hage] but he just had a match against JT [Torres] so that one got turned down. I also asked for Alan Sanchez, but that was also a no. I don’t know if Alan said no or if it was just Flo that said no.”

Widely regarded as one of the top talents in his weight class, injuries have forced Ryan out of a fair amount of competition over the past few years. He has competed in just four matches since 2021, most recently suffering a points defeat to Renato Canuto in the first round of the 2022 ADCC World Championships.

Notably, though, Ryan’s recent wins have all come against elite competition, including Dante Leon and PJ Barch.

Davos, meanwhile has also competed infrequently. A seven-fight UFC veteran, the Brazilian has largely focused on his MMA career lately, having not taken a grappling bout since 2021.
