Queen Of The Mats Brackets Announced
The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Tour brings something special to Abu Dhabi on January 17th with it’s first ever Queen of The Mats tournament. This is set to happen at the same time as the promotion’s open tournament which features some of excellent competitors like Adam Wardzinski, Jackson Souza and Gabriel Souza. The open tournament takes place from January 16th – 18th, but the most intriguing part is the female Heavyweight tournament set right in the middle of it.
Queen of the mats will see six of the best female BJJ competitors from across the world meet in two groups of three where they will compete in a round-robin format to determine which two from each will group will progress to the semi-finals. From then on it will be a straight knockout tournament with two further victories resulting in taking home the title.
The weight range for the women competing varies from 70kg to 95kg and the list is pretty stellar. The athletes also range from multiple-time world champions and veterans of the game like Nathiely De Jesus, all the way to some up and coming stars who must be hungry to make waves in the tournament like Thamara Silva and Gabrieli Pessanha.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Tour takes place in the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi and registration is still open for the main tournament. Registration is set to close on January 9th, click here to enter.
