Never one to shy away from conflict, black belt competitor AJ Agazarm recently found himself on the receiving end of some harsh words from reigning ADCC absolute champion Yuri Simoes.
The exchange took place on Sunday, backstage at the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 5, where Simoes competed against Nick Rodriguez. Agazarm did not compete at the event.
Top no-gi competitor and rising MMA talent Damien Anderson captured the argument on camera and posted it on Instagram. Warning: the clip includes plenty of adult language.
It’s unclear what kicked off the feud, and neither man has made any public statements about it since.
Simoes – a three-time ADCC world champion – would go on later that night to lose on points to Rodriguez.
Agazarm is a 2014 IBJJF no-gi world champion, as well as a 2015 ADCC silver medalist. The Gracie Barra representative has never been involved in a number of similarly heated situations over the years. In perhaps the most notable instance, Agazarm was kicked off the mat by his opponent Vagner Rocha at a Fight 2 Win event in 2016.
