Buchecha booked against Senegalese wrestling star ‘Reug Reug’ Oumar Kane

Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida’s next MMA fight is booked against “Reug Reug” Oumar Kane at ONE Fight Night 13.

Legendary BJJ competitor and undefeated heavyweight MMA star Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida is scheduled to return to action for his fifth MMA fight, this time against Senegalese standout “Reug Reug” Oumar Kane. The contest is slated to go down on Friday, August 4, at ONE Fight Night 13, per ONE Championship.

The two were previously booked against each other for Buchecha’s 2021 MMA debut, but that fight fell through.

One of the most accomplished BJJ practitioners ever, it comes as little surprise that Buchecha has found immediate success in MMA. He owns a 100 percent finishing rate across four bouts in ONE Championship, finishing three by submission and one by TKO, all in the first round.

He’ll come into this bout nearly a year after his last appearance – a 64-second heel hook victory over Kirill Grishenko at ONE on Prime Video 1.

His opponent is a Senegalese wrestling star and could present some interesting stylistic challenges for the BJJ black belt. A physically imposing athlete, Kane boasts a 5-1 career MMA record and has shown some serious improvements to his all-around game recently.

“Reug Reug” will come into the contest riding a two-fight winning streak, most recently earning a unanimous decision victory over the previously undefeated Jasur Mirzamukhamedov last December.

Despite his experience in the grappling arts, Kane has shown a proclivity for brawling on the feet. Against Buchecha, though, he may look to use his wrestling skills in reverse to keep the fight standing.

How to watch: ONE Fight Night 13 takes place on Friday, August 4 and will live on Prime Video (free with Amazon Prime subscription).
