F2W 186 Results and Video Highlights: Thamara Ferreira Submits Elisabeth Clay

Fight To Win 186 took place on Friday, October 29 in Dallas, TX. In the main event, Thamara Ferreira picked up an upset win when she submitted fellow elite competitor Elisabeth Clay. Making that submission all the more impressive is the fact that it was a leg lock, Clay’s area of expertise.

The match between Ferreira and Clay started predictably, with Clay sitting to guard while Ferreira looked to pass and attack Clay’s open guard. Through the vast majority of the match, Ferreira was hesitant to engage and largely defensive, constantly moving backward and avoiding any sort of entanglement with Clay. Clay, seated and scooting forward to attack from her back, showed frustration with Ferreira’s gameplan, but continued to press the action.

Late in the match, Ferreira committed to a pass and quickly found herself in a leg entanglement with Clay. Each grappler latched onto a toehold, but Ferreira’s toehold was much deeper, as she was able to bend Clay’s at a grotesque angle to secure the tap, the upset, and the Fight To Win belt. This was Clay’s first submission loss as a black belt.
