Video: Gordon Ryan and Georges St-Pierre Training in Puerto Rico

Top no-gi grappler Gordon Ryan may be on an indefinite leave of absence from competition, but that hardly means he’s taking a break from training. And by the same token, all-time MMA great Georges St-Pierre might be retired from fighting, but he hasn’t stopped training. Recently, St-Pierre made the trip to Puerto Rico to train alongside Ryan and his Danaher Death Squad teammates. Check out the videos below, posted to Instagram, for highlights of Ryan and St-Pierre training together.

In May, Gordon Ryan announced his unexpected leave of absence from competition, citing ongoing stomach issues that limited his training. He is undefeated in 2021 (and since 2018) with submission wins over Roberto Jimenez and Vagner Rocha. If he is able to get his health under control, though, Ryan could face Andre Galvao at the 2022 ADCC Championship in what would be one of the most anticipated jiu-jitsu matches in the sport’s history.

Georges St-Pierre is considered by many to be the greatest MMA fighter of all time. A former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion, he has been a longtime student of John Danaher.
